PHOTOS: Lakewood Officials Among Attendees of Governor’s Menorah-Lighting Ceremony

PHOTOS: [UPDATED] A special Chanukah celebration was held at the Governor’s Mansion in Princeton, NJ. Flanked by officials from Jewish communities throughout New Jersey, the Governor and the First Lady watched as a Menorah was lit by Rabbi Yosef Carlebach in honor of Chanukah.

  1. and if you light in a governors house and thats how you are mekayeim the mitzva, then suddenly you cant make a bracha?
    what if i light in the mayors house? also no bracha? a hotel or hospital (that lets), also no bracha?

  2. There is one “shita” who allows making a bracha in a similar instance, provided that they will be davening there…though most poskim are of the opinion that a bracha should not be recited. (See Minchas Yitzchak 6,65).

  3. Why wasnt I invited – I am also an askan????? Yeah! laugh!! diference is that what I do, no one knows about – not even me.. In all seriousness I should have been invited, oh well….

  4. fyi, they did daven there…. so i guess they could make the bracha. and could someone explain to me how they can make a bracha by the menora in manhaten? Noone is living there!! (unless you count the homeless people)
