One Lakewood neighborhood is shaken up after two masked men with guns took aim at a Frum couple on Shabbos afternoon and sending residents running for their lives, TLS has learned.
At about 7 PM, two masked men holding rifle-looking guns jumped out of a forest in the area of Albert Avenue, pointed their guns at a couple, and shot off a couple rounds in their direction – sending everyone in the area running for their lives. Luckily – though not immediately known to the couple – they were just paintballs – which missed them. The men then ran off into the forest.
Terrified residents rushed into their homes and phoned police, prompting a massive response.
“In literally about a minute, there must have been about 15 cops here,” a witness told TLS.
Within minutes, police – with guns drawn – had the forest surrounded, and then “announced on loudspeakers that we have the place surrounded and they should come out of the forest,” the witness said.
Moments later, four men exited the forest – holding their paintball guns.
The ‘suspects’ denied to police trying to shoot at the couple, and reportedly said they were just practicing shooting at each other.
“The police warned them that going forward if they intend to use these guns, they have to gear up and play only concealed in the forest,” the area resident said.
Police also thanked the residents for calling, saying they did the right thing.

The township has the right to make an ordinance that makes it not legal to carry such guns in a residential area.

You have to wear a “mask” when playing paintball..G*D forbid something happens and you get shot in the head..Yes they are dangerous but what is not lately. It was good the officers were there in seconds or what seemed like seconds..They came from every direction. Thank you LPD Great Job
