Dear Lakewood Scoop,
I am an employee of the Lakewood MUA – in fact, I am the individual referenced in this article. In writing this, I must stress that the views I offer here are not on behalf of the MUA or necessarily representative of the MUA, but mine alone as a private citizen.
First, thank you for the nice comments. However, there were a number of people who helped out, not to mention the Lakewood Police and the ambulances. I may have been first on the scene, but this was a team effort. If I must be congratulated, please allow me to share the kudos equally with everyone who got out and helped.
Second, although I have only been at the MUA for less than a year, I believe in my heart that there is not a single person here at the MUA who would not have done exactly the same thing. We serve the public, and that is a serious obligation. It’s not an obligation that disappears just because I’m on my lunch break.
I have come to greatly admire the township of Lakewood; the mix of religions, races and ethnicities make it a vibrant place that is truly like no other. My grandparents, much beloved but now deceased, traveled from the Bronx to Lakewood for their honeymoon in 1936. That alone makes this town special for me.
Thank you for allowing me (and all of us) to serve you. And please drive safely!
