Reader-submitted: As a concerned mother in Lakewood, I have noticed that many children do not wear helmets while biking. Helmets can prevent serious injury or even C”V death. I have created a raffle as an incentive to get children to wear their helmets.
Any child who commits to wear a helmet every time s/he bikes until September 30, 2016 will be placed into a raffle for a $500 gift certificate at Bike Blade & Ball (who are cosponsoring this with me.) In addition, there will be a weekly raffle for a bike accessory.
This project has been approved by Hatzolah of Lakewood and warmly welcomed by many local pediatricians.
It would be wonderful if you could help me spread the word by posting the information. Attached is the flyer which children would fill out.
It is my sincere hope and Tefillah that avoidable injury can be prevented.
(TLS also has a click-it or lick-it program which rewards children with ice cream coupons!)
Well done! We need more people like this. There are so many close call accidents in lakewood. Thank you Lakewood Mother!

Is any age child eligible for this?
Thank you to this anonymous mother for putting your concern into action! My kids are not allowed on a bike without a helmet, though they complain that they’re sweaty with it and they won’t fall. With this raffle, they will never complain again! Thank you. Is there an age bracket that this is for?
