Mayor Ray Coles is again going out of his way to help Lakewood’s frum community exercise their religious freedoms, this time on a new issue that has cropped up ahead of Pesach.
Being that the majority of the population in Lakewood are Orthodox Jews, several rabbanim have noted that chametz on Township property and in common areas could be problematic, as frum Jews could be considered partial owners of chametz that exists in areas owned by Lakewood Township.
To resolve this issue, Mayor Coles will be buying all chametz that exists on Township property ahead of Pesach to ensure that there are no issues with chametz ownership in Lakewood.
“It’s my privilege to be able to serve all Lakewood residents in any way that I can,” Mayor Coles told TLS. “I have been buying chametz from rabbis for several years, and I am happy to assist with buying the Township’s chametz this year to avoid any issues with Orthodox Jewish residents’ Pesach observance.”

The rosh yeshiva reb aron Za”l held that there is no problem with chametz belonging to a corporation since a corporation is not a person. If so why would a township be different.
Even if not all hold that way but Lakewood rabanim should not deviate from the rosh yeshiva.
