Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: Westgate

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].

Question:

Hello,
I live on Kingsfield Drive near the corner of Hillside Boulevard in Westgate. Due to various one way streets, and due to Hillside Blvd being the only access road to enter or leave Westgate, all traffic from my half of Westgate — Sanz Town Road, Pressburg Lane, and Kingsfield Drive — is directed to this one intersection. During rush hour, it can take ten minutes for me to simply enter or leave my own parking lot, as one car after another attempts to turn left at the stop sign onto Hillside blvd. This traffic flow could be alleviated by installing a four way stop or light at this intersection. Can this be done?

Response from Mayor Coles:

Good morning,

I will ask Traffic & Safety to investigate this request.

Thanks

Ray

  1. 💯
Also about 7/8 years ago there was talk about a 4 way stop sign being installed at Hillside and Greencove.
Any update on that would be appreciated, or does this need a separate letter to the
    Mayor?

  2. If I’m not mistaken West Gate’s streets are private so that traffic control infrastructure is outside of the town’s jurisdiction. Does anybody know for certain if this is so?
