Question:
Dear Mayor ,
Thank you for making yourself accessible, it is much appreciated .
As is known the town is in the midst of a significant investment in road repavement .
What I am concerned about is utility cut repairs.
Does the town currently have robust repair standards that utility companies must comply with ? Are they inspected after each job to ensure compliance ?
In the past I have witnessed freshly paved roads mutilated by seemingly poor repairs . In a short amount of time the road is crumbling again .
Thank you for listening !
A grateful resident
Response from Mayor Coles:
Hi Benjamin
This has been a pet peeve of mine for a long time. I have had the engineering department working on a follow-up method to make sure these utility cuts get done properly. It is necessary for an initial paving to be done, which will then settle for a few months before the final paving is done. The problem is to often this final paving doesn’t get done in a timely fashion, if at all. We are also in the midst of redoing our road paving and restoration ordinance to make sure these companies are held to account
Thanks,
Ray
