Question:
Hi,
It has come out recently that UPS on Vassar Ave will be closing their customer counter in October. This means anyone needing to drop off a package that doesn’t fit in a drop box (which is the majority) will need to go to Brick or Toms River UPS stores for drop off. Obviously UPS is a private business that can do what’s good for them however this is a disaster for Lakewood residents and businesses that would need to travel extra time for this simple errand.
Is there anything that can be done politically?
Thanks
Response from Mayor Coles:
We have heard rumors similar to this but have not confirmed it yet.
I will ask our Economic Development Director to look into it with UPS right away
Thanks for the heads up
Ray
UPDATE: Good afternoon again.
We did some research today.
Contrary to 1 rumor we were told about, UPS is not closing their facility in town.
UPS has made a corporate decision to close ALL Customer counters in all their facilities. They cite the abundance of UPS Stores & other facilities which allow people to ship their packages from those locations, as well as the need for increased security in their buildings.
We are trying to get confirmation about whether they will still allow drop off at the facility.
Thanks
Ray

FYI there is a UPS store in Jackson- in the same plaza as the Stop and Shop on county line.
You can drop off at any staples store as well.
There’s also a UPS drop on E county by stop and shop in Jackson. If
You can drop off at Taylor Pharmacy. I had a pleasant experience there. I imagine there are other local drop off locations as well.
You can only drop off small packages by Taylor pharmacy they do not take any big ones
you can drop all off at staples as well
and if UPS doesn’t care about their customers you can use FedEx
FedEx does not work with Amazon for returns, which is the main thing that many people use UPS for.
If customers complain that UPS is not being service friendly, I’m sure Amazon will figure out other options.
Drop off on the 9 in ups store in time river. Near the dollar tree bordering lakewood. They are quick and efficient. Great customer service
They are also on Cedar Bridge in Brick next to the Carrabba’s.
I love how everything turns in antisemitism. Like relax maybe it’s not worth the hassle for them to have to process your returns. Do they need do extra hassle for you not to hassle. I agree the rep there wasn’t great but stop over thinking it. When rite aid closed were you screaming but now I have to drive farther for stuff if you shopped there?? Let the politicians work on real problems like the one that’s making you go places a hassle….TRAFFIC
What are you talking about? You are the only one who brought that up. I see no mention of anti semitism in the letter or in any other comments.
I’m confused, who said anything about antisemitism
I am pretty sure Advance Auto Parts At 198 Hampshire has drop offs as well
Who cares! Good; let them go!
A few years ago I dropped off a large box, I schlepped it in and there was one slightly younger yid in front of me whom was done dropping off packages thus was joking and laughing with them; so I asked them “ could I please drop this off, I need to go to work” and they all started laughing at me for no reason at all and than were very slow to accept my box, I had gone out humiliated and I never used them again.
That’s not right, very unpleasant to have that type of experience. I am not familiar with the reps there but I am sorry you had to go through that.
a friend of mine is opening a UPS and fedex store in center of lakewood for all shipping and returns
