Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: Turn on Red

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].

Mr Mayor,

Thank you for your service to our community!

I have a question regarding turning on red.

The intersection of Rt 9 South and Prospect has “no turn on red” turning on to Prospect.

Yet, when proceeding from Prospect and turning right onto RT 9 South, turns are permitted on red.

If turns would be permitted on to Prospect, that may alleviate some of the horrendous traffic that exists.

Thank you

Response from Mayor Coles:

This is a county road intersecting a state road. I have asked our engineer to contact the county engineer and request they make the change.

Take Care

  1. The no right turn onto prospect is to allow for the advanced green for those going north and turning left onto prospect, to proceed without hindrance from those turning right from southbound lanes.
