The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].
Question:
Hi,
Thank you for all your work on getting things done.
I have two issues that I would like to bring to your attention.
The traffic signal at Cedarbridge Ave and Clover is causing even more problems with the new left turn signal. It’s too short to allow more than 2 cars to go but if it goes any longer, the traffic in the other direction would be even worse than it is now already causing. Is there a possibility to add a left turning lane to Clover to ease the congestion and the backup? As the buildings are going up in the area it’s getting worse by the day.
Central Avenue is another major traffic congestion issue. There is only one lane that only opens to two lanes closer to the 9. There is no parking on Central Avenue but the shoulders are wide enough, can this be expanded to make a second lane so the traffic can flow?
Looking forward to an easier work commute once these issues are addressed.
Response from Mayor Coles:
Good morning,
We reached out to the county and asked them to adjust the timing of this light. They have promised to do so & also let us know that they have improvements planned to upgrade the entire intersection. I requested they send us plans and as timetable as soon as possible.
Thanks
Ray

Also a third dedicated right turning lane on Cedarbridge west on to clover will also help to alleviate the back up.
Re: Writing to the mayor.
Last week I wrote in a letter, and I was pleasantly pleased to see how quickly a Public works employee came to my street to install signs and to trim bramble blocking drivers’ view of oncoming traffic.
Kudos to the mayor for caring and taking care of this town’s needs!
And what about the second part to the request, regarding Central Avenue? @Mr.Mayor ty
