Dear Mr Mayor,
All your hard work on our behalf is very appreciated.
I would like to bring up a small suggestion in regards to one of the traffic areas in our town.
At the corner of Clifton /S. Clifton Avenue and Main Street, there is a left turn only signal for Main St. and vice versa.
During the time that Main St. has that green arrow signal on, cars in the right turn only lane on Clifton /S. Clifton Avenue, are are not permitted to make a right turn on red.
I’m wondering if that is something that can be changed. Because when that green signal is on, pedestrian traffic is not allowed, so no pedestrians would be in the street, and the cars turning on to Clifton /S. Clifton wouldn’t be in the way of a right turning car from Clifton /S. Clifton onto Main Street.
My suggestion would be, to have a green right turn arrow signal for Clifton /S. Clifton during the time that there is a green left turn signal for Main Street. This would improve the congestion to some level.
Thanks again for all that you do.
Response from Mayor Coles:
Thank you for this suggestion. I have asked our engineer to send it to the county (who controls the lights at this intersection) with a request they adjust the turn signal.
