Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: Traffic backups

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to AskTheMayor@thelakewoodscoop.com.

Question:

Good afternoon,

At least once a week for the past 3 weeks, there has been some electrical work being done on New Hampshire Avenue during morning rush hour. New Hampshire is a main artery for many people with no alternative route, and this causes tremendous backup and traffic.

Can this work be done a little later in the morning to avoid the rush hour traffic?

Also, I often turn left from Cedarbridge onto New Hampshire. I have noticed that from 9:30 and on, the left turn signal does not always go on, which leads to a buildup of cars on Cedarbridge and mounting frustration. Can this be fixed?

Thank you,
A Lakewood resident

Response from Mayor Coles:

Good afternoon,

We have informed the contractor & state police escort that the work they are doing installing cable cannot begin before 10:00AM must be complete by 3:30.

I will have engineering reach out to the county to inform them of the issue with this light.

Thanks for letting me know about this.

Stay safe

Ray
