Question:
Thank you for being the most interactive mayor that I know!
I have a suggestion which I think is a no-brainer and has many positive consequences.
I estimate there to be a couple of thousand cars coming to Avenue of the states and Boulevard of the Americas every day. A very large percentage of those are coming from the Jackson area, which is easily a 25 to 30 minute commute each way.
If we can have a reliable bus service coming every half an hour or 15 minutes for the busy times leaving from Pine Park and coming to Boulevard of the Americas and Avenue of the states, even if you can take a couple hundred cars off the road every morning that will save a lot of people time and money, and also clear the roads.
If you can have free Wi-Fi on the bus it will be a no-brainer for many people, they can get a half an hour jump start to their work day. If Pine Park would serve as a park and ride then we can have a few hundred people from Jackson and West Lakewood park their cars in Pine Park, and take buses to Avenue of the states. I think it’s a great idea and it will have a high demand.
If there is enough demand, you can have buses leaving every 15 minutes from 8:00 to 10:00 AM. and similar from 3 to 5:30 You will have a high reliability rate and therefore that will turn into a high demand.
If this works, you can implement it from other areas which have many people going from point A to point B.
Thank you again for being the most hands-on mayor ever!
Response from Mayor Coles:
Thanks. We are always looking for ways to expand & improve our transportation system. It is definitely something I will ask our public works to look into.

I don’t think the majority of those people don’t have other errands once theyre in Lakewood. Carpools, shopping, lunch etc. How many Jacksonites want to be stranded in Lakewood with only a bus ride back to Jackson? Most people will continue arriving by car.
Most people going by car is fine. If you have 5 percent taking the bus, that is a large number.
Not worth the 1000’000’s it will cost the township to buy, insure, maintain, & drive the shuttles, as well as build & maintain a secure parking lot on both ends.
If it was a no brainer, a private company would get it going for a profit. Government projects are usually a waste of money that we all pay for in higher taxes. We need the township to require developers to pay for the additional roads needed to handle the increased congestion they are causing by overbuilding. Look at the terrible failure of the township to build the infrastructure we need & you’ll understand why I’m skeptical about any public planning they might undertake.
