Question:
Dear Mayor,
I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention an issue that has been affecting the tennis players in Ocean County Park, and to kindly request your assistance in resolving it.
Having enjoyed playing tennis at Ocean County Park for the past 20 years, I have noticed a significant increase in demand for court availability as our town continues to grow. Unfortunately, it has become increasingly challenging to find an available court due to the lack of adherence to the one-hour rule, which has caused frustration among regular players like myself.
I would like to humbly request that the park administration enforce the one-hour rule more effectively to ensure fair and equal access for all tennis enthusiasts. By implementing stricter monitoring and enforcement measures, we can help maintain a balanced and enjoyable experience for everyone utilizing the courts.
Furthermore, it has come to my attention that some instructors are monopolizing the tennis courts for an entire day, thereby creating unnecessary backups and profiting over public property. This not only limits the opportunities for other players but also goes against the principle of fair and equitable use of the park facilities. I kindly urge you to look into this matter and consider implementing regulations or guidelines to prevent such excessive use by instructors.
By addressing these issues, we can foster a healthier and more inclusive environment for tennis players of all skill levels at Ocean County Park. I truly believe that with your support, we can find a suitable solution that accommodates the needs and interests of the entire community.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I appreciate your ongoing commitment to improving our town’s recreational facilities and ensuring that they serve the public interest. I would be grateful for any updates or actions taken regarding this issue.
Response from Mayor Coles:
Thank you for alerting me to this. Since my tennis days are behind me, I don’t get around the courts much. I have asked Phil Roux to speak to pour parks department administrators and make sure that times are allocated fairly and that no one monopolizes a court for the long periods. I have also asked him to look at the parks we have planned for the near future to see if we can place more courts around town.
Enjoy
Ray
