The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].
Question:
The corner of Kiryas Sanz Ave. and Wadsworth Ave. has a stop sign on Wadsworth and Kiryas Sanz going north. Going South on Kiryas Sanz there is no stop sign. Why? Many people coming from Wadsworth think it’s a 3 way stop sign then almost get into an accident from a car on Kiryas Sanz that does not stop.
Response from Mayor Coles:
Good morning
I asked Traffic Safety to look into this, perhaps a sign letting folks know that opposing traffic does not stop.
Thanks
Ray

Wait, what? Lakewood has stop signs? I never knew that.
When asked whether he felt adding additional stop signs in Lakewood would be helpful, one Lakewood punster told reporters: “The problem with stop signs is that they are only stop-gap solutions.”
“The cars tend to stop for a while,” he said, “but then they continue on their way.”
“We need something that will stop the cars from moving forward on a permanent basis,” he explained, “like concrete walls.”
May the stop sign is there as a suggestion or decoration.
