The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].
Question:
Dear Mayor Coles,
Thanks so much for everything that you do for Lakewood, and congratulations on your so well deserved reelection. Of course, me and my wife were proud to be able to vote for you.
Can I please ask you about the following:
I would like to be able to take my children to play some sports after dark. It now started getting dark earlier.
I live in the Prospect Street area. We went to play paddleball at Hearthstone Park. There is a light facing the paddleball courts, but it seems like it is not working properly. Additionally, it could be that it does not light up the court enough to be able to play a game even when it is working.
Also, can it please be considered if a pickleball net can be added to the Hearthstone Park paddleball court so that it can serve the dual purpose of a paddleball court and pickleball court?
Is this something that you can by any chance please look into?
Also, would someone be able to please let us know if the tennis courts at Pine Park have lighting?
Thank you very much,
Kenneth
Response from Mayor Coles:
Good morning & thank you for your kind words.
Most of our parks and playgrounds close at dusk due to security & safety concerns. We can look into lighting some areas and providing a bit of extra recreation time.
We can also look into installing a pickleball court there, but the paddle ball courts are constantly used, and we need to determine the best way to divide the time available.
Ray
