Question:
Dear Mr Mayor,
Thank you for all you do for us.
I reside in the Stamford Meadows development, where an adjacent housing development is underway and Golders Green Road is being extended. Our street also has the Shul. As part of the agreement with the new developer, they provided some property for parking spots dedicated to the shul, resulting in the relocation of the current spots a few feet onto the developer’s property. However, due to this adjustment, the sidewalk that used to run alongside the parking spots has vanished. When I approached the developers to inquire about it, they informed me that the sidewalk was not included in their plans, and there is limited action they can take to address the issue. I am deeply concerned about the safety of our community, especially our children, as the absence of a sidewalk means they will have to navigate between moving cars to safely walk down the street. I’m reaching out to you to see if there is any possibility of resolving this situation and ensuring the safety of our neighborhood.
Response from Mayor Coles:
Good morning,
I’ve asked our engineers to look into this and see what can be done to resolve it.

Dear Mayor Coles,
while you have your engineers on the phone, please ask them to look into what can be done about a sidewalk on Broadway from River Avenue to Kiryas Sanz Avenue.
Thanks,
Ingrid
The time and place to deal with this issue is when you receive your notice in the mail regarding the upcoming land use board hearing – BEFORE the plans are approved at the Planning or Zoning Board
Originally, the residents of this area were very involved in the Site Plans for the new developments.
However, at one point, the developers wheeled and dealed with them to calm them down.
Unfortunately, the result is that the residents did not look any further at the final plans and therefore they did not see that sidewalks were being eliminated.
