Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: Ridge/Swarthmore

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].

Question:

I have 2 questions.

First, Ridge Avenue between e 7th and brook is very dark at night and is very windy. It’s hard to tell at some points where the street actually is. Some parts are also wider than others making it very hard to drive down. Can we have lines painted on the road showing where the road begins and ends as well as lines in the middle so we don’t end up with an accident?

Secondly, the light on New Hampshire and Swarthmore when coming from the direction of Route 88 is very easy to miss since there are only 2 traffic lights there and the next light by Avenue of the Americas has 4 lights. Can we maybe add more lights by Swarthmore or I know that some cities have lights that you can not see what color it is until you pass the light before it as a safety measure?

Thank you,

Name Withheld

Response from Mayor Coles:

Good morning

I will ask out engineering and Public Works department to look into the striping issue. I think it is a very good idea.

I will also ask the county to look into the lighting issue at Swarthmore & New Hampshire

Thanks

Ray
