Question:
Thanks so much for all you.
I live in the Prospect Square development in Lakewood. There are currently a few developments between Cross Street and Massachusetts Avenue. On Prospect St. where there are developments, there are sidewalks. However, there are some private homes and a development in the process of being developed. For the safety of our pedestrians, can there be sidewalks straight from Massachusetts Ave. until Prospect Vines? The future developments should be encouraged to make their sidewalks in advance since anyways they plan on doing it in the future, and the town should make sidewalks wherever there are no developments.
keep up the good work!!
Response from Mayor Coles:
Good morning,
We all know how important sidewalks are to the safety of our residents, We have been putting in sidewalks across town for several years now. I have also asked our Planning & Zoning boards not to issue any waivers for sidewalks for new construction. All new developments will be required to put in sidewalks. When we look towards each year’s sidewalk plans, we try to put them where they will do the most good, usually in areas where we need to fill in gaps. I will put this area on our list.
Thanks
Ray

During construction ,sidewalks get cracked and beat up . It is not reasonable yo ask a developer to put sidewalks in a year or 2 before he builds ,so that they get ruined and he has to do it a second time .
The town should establish a fund that developers need to contribute to when building in areas not connected to other sidwwalk areas. When new bldwvelopors build nearby they can contribute and refund some to the developers that contributed previously.
Unfortunately, this development was approved without sidewalks….
Huh! You move to a non residential area, a developer puts up hundreds of houses now you want the town to pay for sidewalk nearby?? Seriously who do you think you are? I understand if you live in an area that overtime the traffic situation became dangerous then the town should have a responsibility to help you… How about checking out the area before you purchase a home! Do you want a lake nearby with a path and a park a nice gym….
Lots of sidewalks all over town that seem to be ignored by the walkers who refuse to use them
dear askan4trouble ,
we pay taxes and support the town just like you
