The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].
Question:
Hi Mr. Mayor,
Thank you for your work and devotion to our most wonderful town- Lakewood.
Something must be done at the Prospect and Cross intersection. Currently, there is significant congestion which will only intensify after the completion of that new development in the area; Prospect Heights. Any thoughts?
Response from Mayor Coles:
We have been urging the county to prioritize the road improvements and widening of Cross. We will continue to push them to get this work done as quickly as possible.
Thanks
Ray

Mr Mayor
You cannot allow these developments to be approved and built _before_ the county responds to your “urging”.
These traffic disasters are your responsibility to foresee and prevent.

Dear Mayor Coles,
Can I assume that left turn lanes are part of the proposed improvements on Cross?
Thank you for all you do for Lakewood!
Somehow all these much needed changes to our roads fall on the county or state to approve, If that is the case maybe the county and state should be the ones issuing all these “permits” to keep building and overcrowding our town.
A traffic light with ample turning lanes as well as lanes for drivers going straight will majorly help the congestion there.
Thank you for the traffic light on the corner of Massachusetts St & Prospect St. However as being someone that drives passed that intersection twice daily, a longer green signal for the cars on Massachusetts and a turning signal for hte cars on Prospect street will be greatly appreciated to remove the congestion for cars turning left from Prospect and the back up of cars on Massachusetts
