Question:
Dear Mayor,
As a frequent motorist on thoroughfare of pine street and MLK area we are all so aware of the extreme congestion at that intersection .I do have a question for you why don’t we align forest part circle entrance/exit with MLK drive . I am aware of the water retention located adjacent to MLK however would it be possible to create either a bridge or modify the retention to a underground recharge that would be passable for motorist ? I recall the township had rented a truck mounted temporary traffic signal a few years back and was quickly removed since it made the congestion worse – when pine street was red it was a standstill preventing any exit from forest park and mark drive It seems that the township/county has plans of installing a traffic signal in the future I can only foresee more congestion impossible to exit on both red and green – aligning forest park drive will at least help somewhat
I do also recall the aligning of east end and twin oaks and how that alleviated the congestion (at least for the old days)
Thanks
Response from Mayor Coles:
Hi Yitzy
It is a compelling idea. I will ask our engines to look at it and see if it is possible. We are planning to widen a large portion of Pine as well. Hopefully we can incorporate some type of alignment in the overall plan.
Thanks
Ray

Dear Mayor,
Can we plan ahead for the future. You have the same problem (even worse) where the new Broadway is not directly across from the Chateau Drive. I’ve see busses, trucks and all kinds of vehicles making short stops near that intersection; it’s a tremendous safety hazard!
Could we not have made Broadway aligned with Chateau Drive and avoid all the confusion?
Thanks,
Joel
How about just making a 3 way stop sign by Marc and another one by Forest Park circle I can’t see the stop sign by Forest Park circle causing too much havoc on Pine street as Forest Park circle will probably be empty so it’ll be more a stop and go. And then maybe a light by Martin Luther…
Joel are you also Barry e?
James street co-op is big time in need of that with the entrance and npgs James and sunset rode
#basic thinking
#i don’t get it
If Arlington and or Vine was opened we wouldn’t have traffic on Martin Luther King Dr. and we can take away the 3 way stop sign and make a stop sign one way just on Martin Luther King the way used to be, as there never was traffic on Pine Street until they made a stop sign there.
Open
Arlington to Pine
and Tower from Vine to Albert
and Vine to Cedarbridge
and all streets over the tracks from Princeton to Park avenue
and 8th street from Princeton to Monmouth
And ALL other streets that close the grid and which contribute to the insane gridlock in lakewood
