Question:
Hi!
As someone who plays tennis and basketball in the park quite often, I was wondering if there was ever a plan to put in regular bathrooms?
The porta johns are not very sanitary nor do the kids like to use them…
Ty!
Response from Mayor Coles:
Good morning,
Unfortunately, it is not feasible to put in full bathrooms in that section of the park. There are no utilities available. The cost to bring them out would be huge and much of that land is preserved, so we may not be able to get permits to do the work. I will ask Public Works to pay closer attention to the porta johns and get them cleaned or swapped out more often
Ray

What about putting in one of those trailer bathrooms? I see them advertised every so often for events. Maybe something can be arranged for the park?
there is water and sewer at the bar there. just need run line underground and pull it till entrance to park near gazebo area. Yes it will cost 200,000 but not having normal bathrooms at park is ridiculous. We were there yesterday for night out and it wa very nice but left early bc sorta johns were hot and had no water . There is also water running by fountain next to playground so has be water line somewhere
I use wynns potty’s they come weekly to clean it and do a beautiful job!!!
Maybe the town can use them?
I really don’t understand why they can’t install bathrooms, there’s electric & water nearby & they could put in septic
An Askan with inside information told me that 148 of the 149 acre park is about to be gifted to a developer. He has already received a variance to build 605 2&3 bedroom apartments with 27 available parking spots.
When these apartments are completed the utilities will be close enough that if the developer chooses to he can (at his own expense) run utilities to the (newly renamed) “Last Acre Park”
I am very confused-605 apartments and 27 parking spots-I always thought for 605 apartments, you need 1210 parking spots.
Maybe he meant 27 spots for each apartment
An advantage of portable bathrooms over regular bathrooms is that by many parks that have regular bathrooms, the bathrooms are locked unless there is a special event going on. Marbeh nechasim marbeh da’agah. Regular bathrooms are better but/so they are are more makpid with them.
I just double checked.
It’s actually 607 apartments.
