The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to AskTheMayor@thelakewoodscoop.com.
Question:
Good day Mr. Mayor,
Thank you for all you do for our beautiful town.
I do a lot of walking at Lake Carasaljo. Every year the township employees come to flatten out the rocky path. Within a few weeks, it’s back to being uncomfortable and bumpy. It would be much easier for all the walkers (and there are a lot of them) for this path to be properly paved.
Looking forward to your opinion on this matter.
Thank you
Response from Mayor Coles:
Good morning,
I wish we could do more for the path, but we are prohibited by state law. We cannot put down any impervious materials around that part of the lake. Water has to be able pass through the material. I will ask our public works director to have the path worked on more often throughout the year. I’m glad you are able to use the path regularly. As a resident of the northeastern part of town, I don’t get out there as often as I would like.
Thanks for reaching out.
Ray

The path is not that bad (it could be cleaner or have less branches sticking out) it’s the puddles after the rain in the south side.
I agree with your comment about the cleanliness of the path. The lake needs to be cleaned of soda bottles, paper, cans, &etc. Hope the Township will rectify the matter of pollution.
There is a conrete that lets the water seep through. If I remember correctly the yankee stadium was built with that technology
Pave on top of a thick layer of rocks
I love the gravel. Mr mayor, something should be done about the perimeter of the actual lake. The growth is out of control and makes it look quite ugly. Think u can do something about that? Like hire a landscaper?
The parks around the lake are not being maintained either. I was there yesterday and what ever grass was not rubbed out was overgrown. We don’t have enough parks as it is. Why can’t we at least maintain the few that we do have.
I don’t understand why it can’t be paved? There are many lakes and reservoirs that have paved paths around them.
Hello I would like to ask By the park next to the lake we need clean bathroom reals one !!it’s very hard when you go to the park with your kids and you have to go back home ??
The Canadian geese are also and issue. It’s hard to enjoy walking and letting your children run around while trying to navigate all the bird poop.
The geese population needs to be controlled
The geese fertilize the land and eat bugs and other toxic- to- human organic compounds. So let’s try to leave them alone.
