Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: Muster Zone

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].

Hi Mr Mayor , can we please enforce no pick up on the street and only a specific part of the parking lot or have the muster zone moved to rt 88 and s Clifton?

Can we take a vote with all your constituents to have it moved? Not only will it clear up 90 parking spots but it will also have the shopper friendly feeling opposed to a industrial feeling.

Please advise, your biggest fan!

Best, David

Response from Mayor Coles:

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I have asked the chief to ask our officers to increase patrols of the area around the muster zone & direct both potential employers and those looking for work where they are allowed to operate. I have also asked public works to post some signs alerting those looking for workers where they are allowed to park when picking folks up.

  1. There are actually designated zones for illegal, undocumented workers in Lakewood. You can identify them by the signs written in Hebrew.
