Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: Kent Road Bridge

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].

Question:

I am a resident of A Country Place on South Lake Dr. I would like to know when will the work be finished on the Kent Rd. Bridge? This work has really made the traffic problems on County Line Rd. and Rte. 9 much worse. Kent Rd. is a convenient short-cut to Walmart and the Howell Mall. But because it’s closed, the only way to get there is to make a left-turn from County Line onto Rte. 9. This can take 3 traffic lights to accomplish and backs up traffic on County Line.

When the work began we were told it would be 6 months. I believe it’s much longer than that by now. Moreover, I’ve never seen anyone working there; all I can see is a lot of machinery and equipment.
Please see what you can do to help residents in this area who were really dependent on Kent.

Response from Mayor Coles:

The good news is that the bridge is scheduled to reopen this coming Friday, Aug 14.

Stay Safe

Ray

Thank you. Great news. I will give a Kiddush on Shabbes.
All are invited at A Country Place. (I am not the one who asked the question)

about time , its over a year already, nothing was ever getting done there, there needs to be more oversight! you cant just leave a road closed, inconvenience a entire community and have equipment sitting there with nothing getting done!
