Question:
Hi Mr Mayor
FIrstly, thank you for being so responsive on this platform. It’s great to see how quickly fixes are implemented just from being brought up here (when it isn’t a county/state issue…).
A very significant recent improvement was eliminating the shoulder on Clifton South right past Main Street. Allowing 2 lanes of traffic was a great idea and has had a big impact.
When driving North on Hope Chapel, after passing North Lake Drive, the 2 lanes of traffic merge into one and there is a shoulder almost all the way up to County Line. This is attributing to a lot of the congestion.
May I suggest eliminating the shoulder and continuing the 2 lanes of traffic to continue from South Lake all the way up to County Line? No doubt with a bit of restriping work (you may need to adjust the shoulder on the other side of the road) there can be enough room for two lanes, easing the flow.
Thank you,
CF
Response from Mayor Coles:
Good morning
We met with the new county engineer yesterday. This area was brought up. He assured me they will look into ways to decrease congestion. They are also implementing a new type of traffic control system in this area, over the next few months. It is designed to synchronize all the lights to allow better flow. I did forward your email to him.
Thanks
Ray
Question:
Hi and thanks for your attention to detail. We walk from Lakewood to Brookwood parkway often with our kids and carriages and we find that the sidewalk between Hope Chapel and Brookwood Pkwy is overgrown and difficult to wheel a carriage and have a child walk next to it. Is there anything we can do to trim the grass on both sides of that sidewalk?
Thank you so much.
Response from Mayor Coles:
I will ask public works to check it out Monday morning.
Thanks for brining it to my attention.
Take care

Question:
Hi Mr. Mayor
Thank you so much for all that you do for the community and for this forum, Where the residents of Lakewood can Voice their concerns and questions. Is it possible to look into Central Avenue/Lakewood new Egypt Road regarding the left turn signal. It seems that there is no sensor at the light to see if cars are actually turning and the green left arrow Always turns on for a long time. If there’s anyway that this could be looked into, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you Again
Hillel E.
Response from Mayor Coles:
Good morning
I forwarded your email to the county engineer, and asked him to address the issue.
Thanks for letting me know about this.
Take Care

Question:
dear mr mayor,
I appreciate all you do for the community!
I, among so many others enjoy spending time jogging, biking, walking, sitting, etc. around the beautiful Lakewood lake!
Recently, i noticed that the city replaced all the old workout equipment around the lake, with nice, fresh new ones. my question is that although I’m sure people use them, don’t you think that hundreds of more community members would benefit greatly from redoing the walkway around the entire lake with normal sidewalk, not gravel, and uneven paths in the dirt?
ty!
-a proud Lakewood resident who loves the lake
Response from Mayor Coles:
Good morning
I wish we could do a better path around the lake. Due to environmental restrictions we cannot put down asphalt or concrete because they are impermeable surfaces. Public works is working on improving the paths around the lake to the extent we are allowed.
I’m very happy you are enjoying the lake. I wish I had more free time to spend there. We are very lucky to have such a beautiful space in town.
Enjoy and stay safe
Ray

NO!!!
Regarding Hope Chapel Road:
If there is room for an extra lane I would suggest using in in the South direction from County Line to South Lake – it gets backed up all the way to County Line due to the light on 14th.
I think they should make hope chapel a one way road, that would make the traffic flow.
