Question:
Hi,
Thank you for the work you do for our town and for giving us the opportunity to reach out and work together to help make our community a safe place for everyone.
I’m writing to express concern about the intersection of W County Line and Hope. I’m sure you’re aware of the many accidents that have occurred there over the years, including multiple incidents just this week alone. I wanted to ask what can be done to prevent these from becoming an almost daily occurrence.
Even more concerning is that this intersection is heavily used by pedestrians — many of them children heading to Pine Park in nice weather. Anyone trying to cross W County Line at this intersection will see that it’s nearly impossible to do so safely, as the traffic lights don’t allow enough time to cross the road.
Our children are in danger. Please look into what can be done as soon as possible so we can all enjoy a safe and peaceful summer.

I forwarded your email to the county engineer over the weekend. He responded to me this morning that they are aware of the issue and are currently working on it.

one serious issue is the wires blocking the view of the traffic lights…
Good luck with that. I’ve sent emails, texts and have spoken to the PD, the mayor, the township engineer as well as the county engineer for at least the last 3 years. Nothing gets done. Always told “I”ll have (fill in the name of the week) look into it”. Even asked for someone from the township committee to come out to speak with my neighbors and I about this and other things. Never happened. It’s a fairly simple fix called a protected turn. Once the eastbound traffic gets the green light then all turns from westbound county line gets a red light and must wait until they get a green turn arrow again. Does timing with all the other lights in the area have to be considered? Absolutely. But it shouldn’t take years to get it figured out. Meanwhile preventable accidents continue to happen due to the lack of action of those in charge.
Another serious issue is the way people drive
Why did my comment get removed? Bec I acknowledged the fact that people drive like maniacs? If that’s too hurtful then let the drivers learn how to drive ..it’s hurtful to see people drive without any regard to the people next to them
