Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: Hearthstone Park

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to AskTheMayor@thelakewoodscoop.com.

Question:

Dear mayor,

The paddle board court in hearthstone Park has a chain link fence on top of the concrete wall and lots of balls get stuck there daily can DPW cover the fence with something to stop balls getting stuck up there even a tarp tied over fence should do the job.

Also following up if u have any updates from the state on solution for developments on rt 9 south turning left out of developments when new light goes up on oak street.

Thanks a lot.

Response from Mayor Coles:

Good morning. I asked public works to look into what we can do to eliminate the fence issue.

Our engineers are still waiting to hear back from the state.

Ray

  1. When they were putting up a fence in the first place, it was requested that the chain links should be smaller in size like they have in Pine Park. Unfortunately, the request was ignored and now all the balls get stuck up in the fence. Additionally, the surrounding fence to the paddle ball court has large link holes and the balls sometimes go out through the holes! The one in Pine park is better.
Thank you for taking our voice into consideration!
