Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: Forest between Prospect & Cross

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].

Question: I live on Cabernet Drive and in my backyard is a forest (behind the Special Children’s Center). For the past couple of weeks, there have been Township trucks & tractors coming and going – taking down trees, clearing the area – at all times of day & night. Last night, my child was woken up at 2:20 AM from the tractors working out there!

A couple of questions:

1. Is there some sort of law about what time such work can be done?
2. What exactly are they clearing the forest for? I have heard talk about a park. Just want to know if that’s true.

Thank you so much for your time!

Response from Mayor Coles: Good morning,

We are installing a pocket park in that area. In the hopes to get the work done & have the park ready for spring, Public Works did have drivers dropping off top soil and other materials. They hoped the noise would not disturb the neighbors.

Obviously it did, and we apologize for waking up your child. The late work will stop immediately but we will make every effort to have the park ready for the neighborhood as soon as possible.
