Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: Driving onto the train tracks

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to AskTheMayor@thelakewoodscoop.com.

Question:

Good afternoon Lakewood‘s best Mayor.

Thanks for always being there for everyone.

There is a issue in town where vehicles drive on to the train tracks by accident at the intersection of 4th & Park Ave As well as The intersection of County line & Park Ave. The reason being that the vehicles land up on the tracks is because there’s not enough street lighting as well as it’s not properly Marked such as in barrels or barricades. If someone’s not familiar with the neighborhood it’s very easy for then to accidentally make a wrong turn And it cost them lots of money in repairs on the vehicle. Is there anything that the township could do to make the area more visible?

Thank you very much have a wonderful day

Lakewood resident

Response from Mayor Coles:

I will ask Traffic and Safety and Public Works to look at the intersection and see what we can do to make it safer. We are in the process of upgrading street lighting across town. I will make sure that this area is on the list.

Thanks

Ray

  1. I live here for the past 15 months from Brooklyn and still making that mistake, going almost onto the track Lane. This is no jokes and it should be addressed accordingly.
