Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: Drainage Issue

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].

Hi Mayor Coles,

I have a store on Clifton ave between 2nd and 3rd st every time there’s a rain storm, the whole block get flooded. The drain system can’t handle the water. I’ve tried call public works to at least clean out the drains but on answers and I’ve tried multiple times and left a message.

So there 2 questions:

1. Can we please get the drain system cleaned and possibly figure out a way to drain better.
2. Can we have more people in the office to accommodate people calling.

Thank you

We really appreciate you taking the questions

Response from Mayor Coles:

Hi Ben,

Public Works will get the vac truck over there today or this evening.

I appreciate you bringing this to my attention.

Take Care

  1. Ben the vac truck most likely you’ll get that but more people to answer your calls at DPW or the municipal building, good luck with that cause Lakewood is the only town that still has people working from home including upper management.

  2. Ben- could you report back after it was taken care of. We don’t doubt the mayor as we know how efficient and on his game the mayor is and we all admire him for that, but it’s just nice to hear first hand when a problem is resolved, especially when taken care of so expeditiously..
