Question:
Good afternoon,
Over the summer, many corners in the downtown area had the yellow curbs repainted so as to be more visible. Smart move!
On Second Street, approaching Lexington Avenue, there are two parking spots between the entrance to the driveway/small municipal parking lot and the end of the block. During this summer project, that entire stretch was painted yellow – with no other changes made to the signage or roadway. As such, it is confusing for drivers –
The yellow curb that suddenly appeared seems to indicate no parking.
The white markings still on the road seem to indicate designated parking.
There is no sign post clarifying or warning either way.
Might we be able to resolve any obfuscation both on this forum as well as on location?
Furthermore, perhaps LPD can refrain from ticketing parked cars until this is publicized. Maybe there is a way to refund previously issued summonses too.
Thank you for your availability and for continuing to address concerns, accept advice, and implement ideas. We are lucky to have you leading our town.
M.I.U.
Response from Mayor Coles:
Thanks. I will ask our Public Works Dept. & the LPD to look into this & make sure it is properly & clearly marked out.
Thanks
