Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: Delaware Trail and Lenape Trail

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].

Question: There is no Stop or Yield sign at the corner of Delaware Trail and Lenape Trail. It is right on the Jackson border, but a close look at a map shows that the intersection itself is clearly in Lakewood. I left a message some time ago with the police department, but there is still no sign there.

Response from Mayor Coles: Thank you for bringing this up again. Traffic & Safety has suggested a Stop Sign at Lenape where it meets Delaware. I have asked that it be placed on the next Township Committee meeting agenda.

  1. No need for a stop sign. Common sense to look if a car is coming, out of the hundreds of times I passed there maybe had 2 times a car coming from Delaware the road is wide enough to see. If you want to improve then shouldn’t let cars park there because it blocks view from opposing traffic. Stop sign will just add another great cozy corner for the bored Jackson cops
