The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].
Question:
The stretch of Route 88 Between Boulders Way and Cherry Street, by Ocean County Park can use deer crossing signs as well as more lighting so drivers are aware of deer jumping across the road after dark.
I’ve nearly hit deer close to a dozen times driving on that stretch of 88. Also maybe those signs should have some flashing orange lights at night to make them more visible.
Thank you,
A Lakewood Resident
Response from Mayor Coles:
Thanks for this letter. I will ask the county to see about installing additional signs and lighting along this stretch. We all have to be vigilant when we are driving at night. It isn’t just this stretch of road where deer are encountered.
Ray
