Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: Decaying and rusty playground

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to AskTheMayor@thelakewoodscoop.com.

Question:

Hi Mr. Mayor,

Thank you so much for your devotion and dedication for the success of this town.

In addition, thank you for your focus on parks and public areas which makes this town more pleasant and beautiful.

As a resident of the ocean clover east fifth neighborhood, I would like to ask the mayor if we could consider reconstructing the park and play ground on east fifth corner school garden. As we all know, there has been hundreds of units built in this neighborhood over the last few years with many more to come. The playground is decaying and rusty with some parts boarded up because of hazards.

Thanks again for all your services and wish you good luck in the future!

Response from Mayor Coles:

Hi Morris,

I have been working on this issue since we spoke last week. I will be meeting with the Public Works Director & Park Supervisor next week to discuss the upgrades needed for this park. There are plans in place & we just need to work on funding some of it for this coming year.

Ray
