Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: Crossing Guard or All-Way

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].

Question:

Hi,

The traffic at rush hour times specifically between 2:30 and 4:00pm it can take a while to make a left from Washington ave onto Pine street, cars trying to make the left can sit 5 min each to make that turn which then backs up the whole Washington ave.

I wanted to know if it would be possible to maybe get a crossing guard or even an all-way stop sign at that intersection.

Thank you for all your hard work!

Response from Mayor Coles:

Hi Eli. I will see if there is anyway we can post a crossing guard there. We are always looking for crossing guards, so if anyone reading this is interested please get in touch.

Thanks for reaching out

Stay safe

Ray

  1. people sitting on Pine are waiting a lot longer than that. When there’s crossing guards in the summer, they give more time to the side st (Washington) then the main st (Pine). Pine is a major disaster as it is. It would be much worse with a crossing guard.
Only a properly timed light would help.
