Question:
Mayor Cole I know they have work on Cross St but the traffic is still very bad. And when you get to Prospect it’s even worse what going to happen to ease the traffic.
Response from Mayor Coles:
Good morning
That area of Cross is the next phase the county is working on.

Question:
Hi Mr. Mayor.
We really appreciate all that you do to make Lakewood a great place to live.
I’m wondering if it would be possible to put a left turn signal at the Cedarbridge/Swarthmore intersection. There are times that not more than one or two cars can make the left turn per light and this creates a long backup.
Thanks.
Response from Mayor Coles:
Good morning. I forwarded your request to the county engineer for short term relief. I’m the longer term, the county is developing a plan to improve all the intersections along Cedarbridge from downtown to the Brick border.
Thanks
Ray
Question:
Dear Mayor,
The town put a crossing light on Clifton and 6th street. The problem is many times people don’t know what it’s for, don’t see it, or stop on time.
In Phoenix AZ. a number of years ago they started to put red lights instead of yellow or white by pedestrian cross walks and the number of people stopping increased to around 97% instead of less then 60%.
The brain is trained to stop on red. By making a pedestrian cross walk a temporary stop sign will make it safer for pedestrians.
Response from Mayor Coles:
Thank you for the great idea. I will ask our engineer to look into it. I am not sure if we are allowed to change the color by state law, but we will find out and go from there
Thanks
Ray

Thank you, Mr. Mayer!
I’m glad I have never run for public office, because (aside from the fact that I wouldn’t win)I do not have the magnanimity and grace to be able to respond to each person‘s inane suggestions with the gravitas and seriousness that you do.
