Question:
Hi,
I live in the area of cross street and route 9. Since I moved to this area the population has exploded and there are hundreds of families with children living here. The light at the intersection of cross street/chestnut and route 9 does not have any pedestrian crossing lights coordinated with the traffic lights making it very dangerous for children to cross there. In addition, the time elapse from when the left arrow turn ends and the light turning red (crossing over Route 9 in either direction) is very short making it very tight for people to cross over route 9 safely-especially a family with a carriage and a few children in tow…Is it possible to get pedestrian crossing lights up properly timed that would make for safer crossings for everyone especially our most vulnerable; our children?
Thank you in advance for your help in this matter!
Sincerely,
S.N.
Response from Mayor Coles:
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I have asked our engineer to contact both the county and state and make sure there are pedestrian crossing aids out in place when this intersection is improved as part of the current Rt 9 project
Thanks
Ray
