Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: Create more cross roads

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to AskTheMayor@thelakewoodscoop.com.

Question: Hi good afternoon Mr. Mayor,

I usually don’t write to but now I feel a great need to.

I drive down prospect street on school days and it is terribly congested.

Could there more cross roads created, and can the blinking light at the intersection of Prospect and Massachusetts be turned into a regular traffic light?

Thanking you in advance.

Response from Mayor Coles:

Good morning,

We are exploring several ideas to create some cross roads in town.

The country is currently working on the design for a permanent light at Prospect & Mass.

Thanks

  1. For Mass to hit James you would have to cross the railroad tracks.
Lakewood Pine Blvd to Pine Blvd is doable.

If you look at google maps you can see where the Planning Board allowed cul-de-sak instead of making them connect to roads that are aligned to existing streets.
