Question:
Good afternoon and thank you for your dedication for this town and for taking the time to answer our questions.
I’m wondering if there are any laws in this town regarding how early in the day building construction can start.
Currently there are a few houses going up in my neighborhood and they start working and making so much noise at 6:45 am. It’s really disturbing as it wakes everyone in the house so early. Even if they would start at 7:30, just a half hour later it would be better for all of us.
If there is no law or anything else in place right now, I’m wondering if something can be done so we can have our quality of life back.
Thank you very much!
Response from Mayor Coles:
Good morning,
The rules are set by the Board of Health which allows construction from 7:00AM until 8:00PM. There are also noise restrictions as well. If you have a concern that the rules are being violated, the first point of contact is the Police Department, then Construction. If you get back to me with the location, I will ask the chief to send a car over between 6:30 & 7:00 to make sure they do not start too early and that the noise levels are within appropriate boundaries.

This has been going on at the ELLA CLARK Public school all morning today!
Mr. Mayor- is it possible to hold more growth (building) off route 9 and cross st. for a few more years. It’s getting impossible to drive on and around Cross st. morning-noon or night
Thank You
