Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles Responds to Your ‘Ask The Mayor’ Questions: Chestnut and New Hampshire, Cross St, Pine, Vermont

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].

Question:

Hi Mr mayor, thanks for taking the time to answer all our questions.

Was wondering why the Chestnut – New Hampshire project stalled?

When does the county expect to complete cross, including phase 2?

When exactly do you expect to start work on Pine and second half of Vermont between Essex and Oak, have contracts been awarded yet?

Thanks
A curious resident

Response from Mayor Coles:

Wow, that’s a handful of questions!

Chestnut – New Hampshire – this is a county project. When I last spoke to the engineer, they were waiting on Verizon to complete some work so they could continue. I will reach out to him again and see where they are.

The first phase of Cross should be done by spring. The plans for the second phase are being completed. Realistically, they are at least a year or more out.

We should have Pine under construction next year. We recently received a 500,000.00 state grant to help defray some of the expense.

We are also looking at potential to expand Vine built, but need to get estimates to see how much it would cost and if there are any environmental restrictions before we can move further ahead.

Thanks

Ray

  1. please dont put huge curbs along vine, now we can go on the sandy side to get around turning cars, the curbs will end all that, making traffic so much worse
