The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to AskTheMayor@thelakewoodscoop.com.
Question:
As someone that lives in this area for over 20 years was just wondering if there’s a place for the busses to Brooklyn to stop legally instead of taking up the whole right lane during the busiest times of the week (besides all the cars parking near corners making it almost impossible to turn).
Response from Mayor Coles:
Good morning. I will ask traffic and safety to see if something can be done there.
Thanks
Ray

Not sure what exactly your problem is?
School buses or New Jersey Transit Busses may and Brooklyn Buses can bot?
I don’t agree with your approach at all, if we can fix nothing until we can fix everything…..we will fix nothing. Start small, bit by bit, one by one, fix little problems, and they will add up long term.
Career politicians and talk show hosts often think like you. The mayors approach is the smart one. If you think there is a problem that needs to be addressed speak up and email him too, and if you have a suggestion on a specific way to fix the issue you mentioned, surely you should mention it.
Please also look into how they park on Hillside in Westgate for hours on end,(overnight 3 buses )and even when they park legally it’s a huge issue. Since the buses are wider than a typical vehicle it is very dangerous and difficult to see oncoming traffic, when you try to exit the Westgate plaza. By the time you can see if it’s clear to go, you are already blocking traffic. This is besides the point when there is drop off and pick up. Cars park haphazardly and dangerously “just for A few minutes “
