Question:
Good morning,
Dear Mayor Coles, thank you for your service in making Lakewood a great town to live in.
I was wondering if there are any options in making bike lanes, as they have in many large cities around the country.
This would encourage people to bike more, alleviating some traffic, and making it safe to exercise around our busy town roads.
I understand that some roads are county/state roads, but is there anyway to reach out to them to engineer a bike route around the town.
I was recently in Brooklyn, and enjoyed immensely the bike routes provided by the city making it possible to travel nearly anywhere in a safe and healthy manner.
Thank you again for your service and timely response.
Moshe
Response from Mayor Coles:
Good afternoon Moshe,
I think bike lanes would be a great benefit to the Township. We actually had some 10-12 years ago but they were not heavily used. Perhaps the time has come to look into it again. I will ask our Planner to look into it & see if there are any areas in town that we can get started. I’m sure the county would be very cooperative. I’m not too hopeful about having them on state roads like 88 & 9.
Thanks for reaching out
Ray

Sidewalks are more a priority one would think?
Have noticed an increase in areas that are new construction adding sidewalks and in some instances like Miller road have seen in the past year the addition of completing the sidewalks where none existed, thank you! Would hope more until all roads have safe sidewalks!
why are there no sidewalks on New Hampshire between Cedar Bridge and Pine?
Because no one should be walking there (until people live there).
