The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].
Question:
Mr. Mayor
When driving through town during partial blackouts, I wonder why such a low energy use of a traffic light system with clocks and timers can not have a 24 hour or week-long battery backup. There are a few products already on the market to provide backup power for traffic signals.
A little more sophisticated, to which I don’t know if it exists yet, would be to have another mode for when the battery backup is in use, which would operate the traffic light system without the additional crosswalk countdown and video car sensors, just to have the regular cycle of the operating an intersection.
Best regards,
Response from Mayor Coles:
Good morning
We are working with the county and have requested permission to install these backups.
Ray

Is anybody else sick of the answers always going back to the county, it’s about time Lakewood should be able to fix it’s probably quickly without outsiders budding in
