My neighbors have a hoop on the side walk and play in the street, do they have a legal right to do that and cause neighbors to have to avoid them while driving in the street etc? I thought that sidewalks are public property and this should not be allowed.

Good morning,
I checked with Chief Meyer & he confirmed that baseball hoop are not allowed at the curb. If your neighbors have a driveway, it would need to be moved there or removed altogether. Let kids have some fun and drive slow, I doubt the extra 30 seconds it will take to get down the block will make a difference in your life

i agree, let kids have fun, but they should also be considerate and move to the side when they see cars coming down the street.
I mean really, do your kids ever play in the street? Do you walk in the street on Shabbos? While you may have a right to make them move it, I doubt it will encourage good neighborly fellings.
How many city mayors are there in the world who don’t mind giving out their email address?
Please read the mayor’s response carefully, Chief Myers said it is not allowed. Safety is of the utmost imprtance.
Move the Basketball Hoop to your drive way. Children should not be playing in the street especially the way people drive in Lakewood. I live in Jackson Basketball Hoops are not allowed in the street or sidewalks.
