Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: A Healthier Town

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].

Hi Mr Mayor,

Thank you again for being a wonderfully responsive mayor. I think what we have is quite unique in our town.

I think in general I would love to see Lakewood Township devoting some additional time and monetary resources to ensuring this town is healthier. Besides for numerous sidewalk installations to promote more walking that are already being done all through town, I would in particular, want to advocate for a splash pad to be installed in a Lakewood township park. My young children would definitely benefit from a park such as that one. To offset the cost and maintenance of such a park perhaps a small entry fee can be charged as is done in the Township of Freehold (they have a great park called Michael J Tighe).

Thank you again for your time and consideration.

A Lakewood Mother

Response from Mayor Coles:

Good afternoon,

I think that is a great idea. We are currently exploring several ideas to increase areas of activities for our children (as well as ourselves).

Thanks for writing.

  1. Hmm, but maybe we should fix what we already have first? There are many parks in town that are in desperate need for repairs / maintenance/ upgrades…..
