Question:
Hi. There is a bunny that belongs to noone on my lawn all the time. It eats my grass and my little ones are scared to go out of the house. Now in the freezing weather it sits under my car for warmth.
Ive called animal control 3 times. each time I’m told they will give over the message.
Can someone please help me?
Response from Mayor Coles:
Please get back to me with your address. Do you know if this is a domesticated rabbit that someone had as a pet ? I know in my Raintree neighborhood, last year there was a pet rabbit that got loose & I saw it all over for quite some time.
UPDATE: I have worked with Animal Control. They will attempt to capture the rabbit and bring it to it’s new home at Popcorn Park Zoo.
Thanks
Ray

This should be everyone’s biggest problem.
It wouldn’t surprise me if the rabbit was ‘freed’ by its owner who couldn’t handle taking care of it anymore. Too many rabbits are abandoned by ppl who didn’t do enough research on their care & realize too late that they r not ready to take care of an animal that has many (sometimes expensive) needs. Please make sure, before getting a pet, that u can take proper care of it for the rest of its life. Btw, rabbits can live up to 8-12 yrs…
Some have used the “carrot and stick” approach to deal with rabbits. I prefer to use just grass or hay; and no carrots and no sticks. Feel free to connect with me at my website: “NoCarrots-NoSticks.com/BunnyRabbits”
Better hop to it. Shema Yisrael.
I thought this was a joke. We have Bunny’s all over the place. How much grass is it eating??? Why would your kids be afraid of it? It doesn’t bite, doesn’t have sharp claws and would probably hop away if anyone got close. I’m so confused.
I have had bunnies in my front and back yard for 14 years here, and many more in prior places. Some years they nest under my deck.
A wild animal doesn’t need to be dragged away to a new home. If you want to give it a few plain fruits or veggies, it will be appreciative. Don’t worry about getting too close, they run, but never attack unless cornered.
