The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].
Question:
I have noticed many times cars do not follow the sign by 14th and forest turning lanes on forest north and south and has almost caused accidents. can you please put the turning lane sign on the traffic light itself?
Thank you
Response from Mayor Coles:
I will ask Traffic and Safety to review the intersection and the light and ask for their recommendation about the changes you suggested.
Thanks for writing
Ray

The striping and signage was not done properly here. There is a thin barely visible arrow painted.
Since they re paved they never re stripped with the proper arrows
its pretty clear, its just he ppl who dont care just like all other turning lanes where you have ppl going straight.
I drive here everyday and I too have witnesses so many near accidents and much chaos at this intersection. I called public works about this numerous times. They simply come down and paint one meager left turning arrow. Before they repaved this street, each lane had the word ”ONLY'” written numerous times.. that would help. ( I’ve also noticed that when Public works paints the line/signal themselves , the paint only last a few months; would be best to use a real striping truck.)Township should have never signed off on the bond, the job was never finished. ( this was 2 or 3 years ago) The township has every right to go back to the construction contractor and ask him to restripe this intersection properly, and not get pushed over! ( They only worked on Forest, take a look at the 14th Street side of the intersection and you’ll see how efficiently the lanes are marked /striped. Multiple arrows in each lane giving us a good idea of which lane to be in well in advance when approaching , with the word ONLY . That’s how it once appeared on the forest side as well before the repaving a few years ago.)
