Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles, sworn in as Mayor for a second year in a row, shared with TLS some of his goals for 2018.
“I have a lot of hope for 2018. We accomplished a lot together last year and now we have the opportunity to put that hard work in motion. 5 new traffic lights are being erected already.
We will continue our program to repair our existing roads and construct new sidewalks all across town.
We are also looking to add new roads and make improvements to others while continuing to work with the county and state to widen and make improvements to their roads.
I’m very excited to announce an initiative to create additional parks and playgrounds as well renovate our existing facilities.
I’m looking forward to working with Committeeman Delia on his dream to put a walking bridge across the lake.
I’m sure we will have some setbacks this year, but I am confidant that by working together we will be able to make this a great year for Lakewood.

How about making a commitment to opening up Arlington to Pine Street.
How about not letting houses to be billd on the street like RT88 so they can widen it? Why was a rain water runoff aloud to be billd on the street betwean melville & TreesideLane so now there can not be a road billd there?

To Mayor Coles I was upset how could you vote for more density without finding out first if building more roads will alleviate the traffic problems I travel everyday from Pine Street to BMG and since five years ago when building was booming all over Lakewood not only route 9 but many other roads like Pine New Hampsure ContyLiine Cederbridge Cross Central have gotten worse bumper to bumper the Mayor should take out the time and drive on these streets during school time and tell me it’s not a density problem besides the over 100 accidents happening every week
Congratulations to you, Ray. We are fortunate to have you as mayor again. You’ve got a lot on your plate. I wish you the best of luck for another successful term and full cooperation for everything you’re trying to accomplish.
I’m not super hopeful. 6 months ago on this website I asked about putting up a sign on countyline and Monmouth Avenue stating Monmouth Ave as well as the leaves and trash littering the homes on County Line from Princeton to Raintree. I was told it will be taken care of swiftly. Hmm, still waiting. . . No sign on Monmouth Ave and piles of leaves and trash are all over County Line. . .
Chaim, as a member of the Jewish nation, you are required to judge favorably. I don’t know who wrote the misspelled words, however, autocorrect does a fine job sometimes deciding what words people wish to write. Sometimes, people type quick and press send before editing the autocorrect’s corrections. Try to focus on the message and not the flaws. If the message is flawed then you can complain. If the message is sincere and the spelling is flawed then just judge favorably and move on (unless you’re an English teacher educating a student’s handwritten word.)
Speaking of spelling/grammar- I believe that the word confidant is not being used correctly, rather should have read confidEnt…
How about working on not being nasty this year? I don’t live in Lakewood but I frequent this site often and enjoy what it has to offer. Help keep it a positive place. Ahavas chinam can only work in our favor. We need so many yeshuos, and of course the ultimate one!
