Lakewood Man Among Arrested at Police Checkpoint in Brick

brick pd tlsOn November 29, the Brick Township Police Department, in conjunction with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office conducted a DUI Sobriety Checkpoint. Roving DUI patrols were also conducted throughout the township over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. 

Members of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Manchester Township Police Department were on scene at the checkpoint to assist. The checkpoint detail was funded through a grant from the NJ Division of Highway Traffic Safety (NJDHTS). The checkpoint was conducted in the west parking lot of the Brick Township High School located at 346 Chambers Bridge Road in Brick. All vehicles that were travelling on Chambers Bridge Road southbound were directed into the checkpoint.  Once inside the checkpoint, contact was made with drivers whom were given an informational pamphlet which described the dangers of Drinking and Driving. Officers would then have drivers pull to the side for further investigation if they felt there were indicators of driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

A total of 624 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, which was in operation from 10 p.m. until 3 a.m. Based on this operation, a total of five individuals were arrested.  The following individual was charged with Driving While Intoxicated:

  • Keith Horn of Point Pleasant, NJ; Age 28.

The following three individuals were charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of Paraphernalia:

  • Melyssa D. Pcolar, Toms River, NJ; Age 20.
  • Ray A. Gonzales, Lakewood, NJ; Age 24.
  • Piero G. Quispe-Prieto, Toms River, NJ; Age 24.

The following individual was arrested on a traffic warrant for Failure to Appear:

  • Christopher J. Allan, Lanoka Harbor, NJ; Age 32.

One motor vehicle was impounded, and a total of 24 motor vehicle summonses were issued. [TLS]

  1. Thanx SO MUCH. Brick & Lakewood PD for keeping the DUI’s off our roads. DUI’s kill more people on our roads every year than all our wars combined for the last 19 years. Keep up the GREAT work !!
